Does Samsung Have a Built-In Speaker Cleaner?

No, Samsung Galaxy phones don't have a built-in speaker cleaner. Galaxy phones can test the speaker through the Samsung Members app, but they don't play a cleaning tone. For brands that do, see the Android speaker cleaner guide.

How to Clean a Galaxy Speaker With Sound

To clean a Galaxy speaker with sound, remove the case, raise the volume, and run 30–60 second cycles with the speaker facing down.

  1. Remove the case and any film or skin near the speaker. Samsung lists third-party cases and films as a cause of sound problems.
  2. Turn off Bluetooth from the Quick panel.
  3. Raise the media volume.
  4. Open this page in Chrome or Samsung Internet.
  5. Place the phone speaker-side down on a dry towel.
  6. Press Start, and repeat up to 3 cycles.

This page uses the same tone as the main water eject tool.

What Does Samsung Recommend for a Wet Galaxy Phone?

Samsung recommends drying the phone right away and patting each opening with a soft cloth.

  1. Pat dry the earpiece at the top front, the microphones, the speaker at the bottom and the USB port, using a clean, soft cloth.
  2. Rinse the phone with fresh water if it was in salt water, then dry it. Samsung warns that dried salt can block the microphone, earpiece and speaker; see what to do with a phone dropped in saltwater.
  3. Skip compressed air. Samsung says cans of compressed air may damage the device.
  4. Shake the phone gently a few times with the speaker facing down, and use cool moving air to speed up drying.

Samsung notes that moisture left on the front speaker mesh can clear on its own from speaker vibration during a call.

Why Does a Galaxy Speaker Sound Quiet After a Flight?

A Galaxy speaker sounds quiet after a flight because the seals that make the phone water-resistant trap air at a different pressure. Samsung says the speakers can sound quiet, crackly or distorted after a large change in air pressure. The pressure usually equalizes on its own. To speed it up, insert the SIM tool, slide the SIM tray halfway out, then close it again.

How Do You Test a Galaxy Speaker in Samsung Members?

You test a Galaxy speaker in Samsung Members by running the app's phone diagnostics and choosing the speaker check.

  1. Open the Samsung Members app.
  2. Go to the support or diagnostics section.
  3. Run the speaker test and follow the prompts.

Menu names change between app versions. You can run the speaker test on this site as well, which works on any phone.

What Does the Moisture Alert Mean on a Galaxy Phone?

The moisture alert means your Galaxy phone found water in its USB-C port and has stopped wired charging. Unplug the cable and let the port dry. Read the full steps for the moisture detected alert.

What If Your Galaxy Speaker Still Isn't Working?

If your Galaxy speaker still isn't working, work through Samsung's checks in this order.

  1. Check that sound isn't going elsewhere: turn off Bluetooth, and check Separate app sound in Settings › Sounds and vibration.
  2. Update the software from Settings › Software update.
  3. Restart in Safe mode to see whether a downloaded app causes the problem.
  4. Book a repair at a Samsung Service Centre if none of these help.
